HOW TO PERFORM A PULSE OXIMETRY TEST

Patient Guide on How to Use a Pulse Oximeter:

It’s easy. The modern pulse oximeter contains a pair of small, light-emitting diodes (LEDs) placed on a translucent part of your body, most commonly the fingertip. Place the pulse oximeter on your fingertip and turn it on.

The pulse oximeter will transmit two different wavelengths of LED light, which measures oxygen levels in the blood. The standard range for oxygen saturation is from 95 to 100%, although a value of up to 90% is accepted. Learn more about pulse oximetry, how it works and the testing process.
